5. Derrick Rose wins 2009 Skills Challenge

On one hand, a lot of people might not think this was a greater moment than the three MVP performances from Jordan that aren’t on this list. That argument is understandable.

After all, the Skills Challenge is even billed as the least of the three All-Star Weekend competitions behind the 3-point Shootout and the Slam Dunk Competition. And, this year notwithstanding, it’s become a competition that big guys are even starting to take over.

And yet, watching a young Chicago Bulls star put on a show at All-Star Weekend meant more than just seeing him win the Skills Challenge trophy. Finally, the Bulls were looking at a future with a true up-and-coming star: the best rookie the Bulls ever had aside from Jordan.

Like many Derrick Rose highlights, this clip leaves you with a sense of nostalgia at how bright his star was and a sense of sadness about how it all collapsed with one ill-fated jump stop.

Now, these little memories are all Chicago Bulls fans have left of one of the greatest players in franchise history.

Man, that 30-for-30 is going to break records when it comes out.
