The Chicago Bears are hosting former Oakland Raiders cornerback David Amerson, which could be the beginning of a very busy offseason.

Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace isn’t wasting any time in his pursuit of building the Bears into a winning franchise.

On Wednesday, former Oakland Raiders cornerback David Amerson will be visiting the Chicago Bears. According to Ian Rapoport, Amerson is getting a lot of interest and has other visits lined up.

Amerson, 26, was drafted in the second round by the Washington Redskins in 2013. Amerson is 6-1 and 205 pounds, so he has good size for an outside corner.

Amerson didn’t play well last year as he battled injuries. However, in 2015, Amerson had 53 tackles and career highs in passes defended (35) and interceptions (4), while being named Pro Football Focus’ Most Improved Player. So, the talent is there.

Perhaps a change of scenery with a great coach like Vic Fangio could serve him well.

The Chicago Bears certainly have a need for corners. Prince Amukamara and Kyle Fuller are set to become free agents. While it’s a possibility one or both could resign, depth is never a bad thing.

The biggest takeaway from this upcoming visit with Amerson is that the Chicago Bears have money to spend and holes to fill.

Pace knows that he needs to put a winning team on the field sooner rather than later. To do that he needs to give new head coach Matt Nagy the best team possible.

The Raiders cut Amerson on Monday. The fact that Amerson’s first visit is going to be with the Chicago Bears is a sign of things to come. Free agency opens on March 14th (with the legal tampering period beginning on March 12th).

So, get ready, because the Chicago Bears are going to be very active.
