Despite losing multiple offensive lineman to the NFL Draft this season, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are looking to bolster their 2020 line with an offer to Paris Johnson Jr.

For many years the Notre Dame Irish have been a hot bed for offensive linemen. Most of that was under the tutelage of Harry Hiestand, one of the best and most well respect O-line coaches in all of college football. Hiestand has chosen to leave the Irish for the NFL, taking the same job with the Chicago Bears. Despite losing their top coach, Notre Dame continues to recruit the best of them. This time they have offered 16 year-old Paris Johnson Jr. from Cincinnati.

Even as only a sophomore in highschool, Johnson Jr has received offers from notable schools in Ohio State, Michigan, and Michigan State. With such offers one must consider that this big man’s stock will continue to rise as he progresses in his highschool career.

In Notre Dame, Johnson Jr. would be wise to come to a program that will send two potential top ten picks to the 2018 NFL Draft in Quenton Nelson and Mike McGlinchey. Not only are they sending two to the draft this season, in recent years they have seen an uptick in linemen being drafted to the NFL.

Tackle Ronnie Stanley was selected sixth overall by the Ravens in the 2016 Draft, along with Center Nick Martin in the second round. During the 2014 draft, linemen Zack Martin and Chris Watt were selected as well.

Standing at 6’7 275 lbs, Johnson Jr. would provide the Irish with a menacing force on the offensive line for years to come. Check out his sophomore year highlights, via Rivals.com.

Despite the losses of McGlinchey and Nelson, the Irish are set at the offensive line for at least the next few seasons. However once the 2020 season rolls around, things could be a bit different. The addition of a stud like Johnson Jr. could be the linemen that Notre Dame needs to put them over the top.
