Continuing our series of previewing the White Sox Top-30 prospects, up next is Amado Nunez – the White Sox #28 ranked prospect.

As one of the youngest members of this list, Amado Nunez has the longest road to go towards becoming a member of the White Sox. Although he has one of the brightest futures in the entire organization if everything pans out the way the team hopes.

More from Chicago White Sox

When the White Sox first signed Nunez back in 2014, for a then international signing team high of $900,000 out of the Dominican Republic at just 17 years old. That season he was hampered by hamstring injuries, which held him to only 21 games.

The following season the Sox finally got to see their young stud in action, as he partook in 52 games during the Arizona Summer League. He was the best player in that league, as he finished with 62 hits along with 26 RBI’s.

After having trouble as a shortstop during his first two professional seasons, the White Sox chose to move him to a more suitable place in the field, as a third baseman. In those first two seasons, Nunez had an atrocious amount of errors, 40 total in 284 chances.

Currently the White Sox major league team has a trio of options at the third base position. Matt Davidson, Yolmer Sanchez, and Tyler Saladino are currently holding down the fort. None of those three are long-term options for the team if they want to get back to winning multiple World Series’.

Nunez will likely begin the 2018 season down in rookie level ball once again, this time with the Great Falls Voyagers, where he played the majority of his 2017 season. If his bat continues to develop and he starts to figure out where pitches will be hitting the strike zone, Nunez could finish the season in Low A ball.

After the trade of Todd Frazier that sent him to the New York Yankees, the White Sox third basemen have been doing a merry-go-round of who starts. Currently Amado’s ETA to the Major League squad is 2020, however due to the teams unfortunate problems at the hot corner we could see Nunez earlier than expected.
