Matt Nagy hire a win for Chicago Bears, especially Trubisky and Cohen
Nagy perfect choice for maximizing Tarik Cohen
Way back in June, I wrote about how I’d love to see Cohen used in a similar way to Chiefs speed demon Tyreek Hill. Obviously, Cohen isn’t as fast, but they have similarly electrifying abilities when you get them the football in space.
This year, we didn’t get a great chance to see as much of what Cohen could do as we should have. John Fox and Dowell Loggains were too unimaginative and tentative in their use of him this season, including refusing to use him frequently enough as a decoy.
And when they did get him the ball, they did so in a far too predictable manner.
With Nagy at the helm, we might get to see what Cohen can really do.
Players like Hill and Cohen often times risk being misused by coaches and coordinators that are unwilling to think outside of the box offensively.
But Nagy weaponized Hill and turned him into an absolutely horrifying threat as a receiver and wild-card piece.
Oh, dear Lord. Just imagine Cohen getting a crossing route like that and just turning it into a punt return.
Plus, there’s no reason to think that he can’t make Cohen more effective running the football either. How many times did we see the Chicago Bears run a counter like this last year?
Next: Tarik Cohen gives Chicago Bears missing element
Cohen, like Hill in Kansas City, is by far the most explosive player on this Bears team. And Pace just hired the perfect guy to actually ensure he’s used that way.
