Sources claim that the Chicago Bears will hire Matt Nagy as their new head coach, bringing a bright offensive mind to the Windy City.

Turns out our Jordan Campbell was on the right track when he suggested that the Chicago Bears would name their new head coach soon (not that I’d expect anything less!).

Sources have reportedly told Adam Jahns of the Sun-Times that the Bears will name Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy their head coach.

For the Bears, it means another foray into the realm of having an offensive-minded head coach. But something tells me that things will be different than they were under Marc Trestman. His experience under Andy Reid, in particular, gives me confidence as well as his track record with Alex Smith.

One way or another, you have to imagine that Nagy absolutely aced what was probably very tough interview.

More from Da Windy City

Keep in mind: the Kansas City Chiefs just dropped their Wildcard Round matchup against the Tennessee Titans in fairly unfortunate fashion: they didn’t score any points in the second half, and Kareem Hunt got just five second-half carries with KC up 21-3.

With that in mind, a lot of people soured on Nagy’s play-calling abilities. And Ryan Pace certainly got to question him about that game himself and get a feel for how he responded to adversity. Clearly, he won Pace over and thus won the job in a crowded field of offensive savants, including Josh McDaniels and John DeFilippo.

As always, you have to look at the full body of work that he put in this season as offensive coordinator. And when you take that into account, you have to admit that Nagy is a great fit with the Chicago Bears.

Here are a few reasons why.
