Chicago Bears vs San Francisco 49ers: 5 players to watch
By Eric Brown
Quarterback: Jimmy Garoppolo
The day has finally come, the chosen one, Jimmy G will finally make his first start for the fabled San Francisco 49ers. After having started the season with Brian Hoyer under the center, they let CJ Beathard throw the ball. They were not impressed, trading for Jimmy Garoppolo after week 9. Plenty of fans were clamoring for Jimmy to get his first start as soon as he was traded for, but the 49ers were not wavered by the fans liking for the cult hero.

Back in 2016, when Tom Brady was suspended for 4 games as a result of the Deflate Gate scandal, Jimmy Garoppolo was the next man up. As had been the case for the New England Patriots for the past decade and a half, any time a man went down, the next player on the depth chart would make a great start.
In the 2 games that Garoppolo would start, he threw for just under 500 yards with four total touchdowns. Despite barely playing during his time with New England, Jimmy would get rave reviews from future Hall of Famers in Tom Brady and coach Bill Belichick. Those reviews would be enough for the 49ers to make the trade for him.
