Safety: Adrian Amos

Amos has yet to practice this week, making him questionable at least to play. For now, we can only hope for the best that he plays.

One of the NFL’s most surprising players, Adrian Amos has given the Bears some hope on the defensive side of the ball. Drafted in the 5th round by the Bears back in 2015, Amos has started 38 of a possible 42 games.

In 2015 and 2016, his first seasons in the league, Amos had a total of 57 tackles in each year. In 2017, he has amassed 53 total tackles in only 11 games. Looking to surpass his previous career highs in almost every category, this could be a major game for the 3rd year player.

Currently, 106 safeties are paid more than Adrian Amos. Only one of those 106 players ranks above him according to ProFootballFocus. According to Spotrac.com, Amos will make a total of $673,070 for the 2017 season. If he can reach 67 total tackles, he will be making $1,000 for each tackle he makes. That would be one of the most valuable contracts in the entire NFL for 2017, maybe even of all time.

He will still be under contract for the 2018 season, and if the Bears would like to keep one of the best safeties in the league on their roster beyond next year, they will have to pony up some cash. Harrison Smith, arguably the leagues best safety, will be making on average $8 million per year until his contract is up.

Stat Line Prediction: 6 total tackles, 2 pass deflections.
