Quarterback: Brandon Wimbush

After finishing last season as the 3rd string quarterback behind Deshone Kizer and Malik Zaire, many were saying that Brandon Wimbush should transfer to a different school so he could have the opportunity to play. If he had done that, Notre Dame would be reeling this season with Ian Book as the starter. No offense to Book, he just is not ready to lead any offense yet in his career.

Wimbush is easily having the best season of his Notre Dame career. On the season, he has totaled over 1500 yards, 11 touchdowns on the ground, and 10 touchdowns through the air. With Equanimeous St Brown leading the team in receiving, and likely heading to the NFL after this season, Wimbush has the targets to throw to.

Another reason Wimbush is having a great year is the run game. Behind the legs of Josh Adams, Notre Dame’s offense has been rolling ever since the week 1 loss to Georgia. Opposing defenses must take into account that Adams can break off a big run during any play. Many have said throughout the year that Saquon Barkley has been the best running back in college football, however, take a look at these stats that say otherwise.

Now, we’re not saying that Barkley is not a good running back, because he is. Josh Adams is currently on another level, putting him square in the race for when the Heisman award is handed out in New York City in mid December.

Against the defense of the Demon Deacons, Wimbush will have a tough task against the 37th ranked pass defense in all of FBS.
