Great news Bulls fans! Chicago has been chosen to host the 2018 NBA Draft lottery next May.

This is great news for anybody who is a fan of the Chicago Bulls. The team will likely be bad enough to be in contention for the number one overall pick come next May. According to a report by WGN TV News in Chicago, the lottery will be held on May 15th, with the combine the following five days.

So far in 2017, the Chicago Bulls have been as bad as everybody thought they would be. The team was never expected to contend for the playoffs, let alone sniff the playoffs. Adding insult to injury, literally, Bobby Portis and Nikola Mirotic got into a scuffle during a practice before the season causing the Bulls to thrust prized rookie Lauri Markkanen into the starting power forward role.

More from Da Windy City

There is a very good chance that, along with the Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks, the Bulls will be one of the three worst teams in the entire NBA. Right now, all that Chicago needs is draft picks, and 2018 is going to be one of the most special drafts in recent memory. Not since 2003 has a draft been lauded with so much praise, and that draft gave us Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Bosh all in the top 5.

The players who will be chosen in the top 5 of the 2018 draft are all pieces that can turn a franchise around instantly. Currently, the top five majority picks are Luka Doncic, Michael Porter Jr, Marvin Bagley, Deandre Ayton, and Mo Bamba in some order. With the Chicago Bulls needing young talent, this seems like the perfect opportunity for the Bulls to take advantage of the situation at hand.

Throughout history, the NBA Draft lottery has long been scrutinized for the way the NBA handles it. In the very first draft lottery, the New York Knicks supposedly won the number 1 pick in ways that nobody can understand to this day. Maybe the NBA pulls some magic for the Bulls this time around and gives them the number one pick. We can only hope.
