The Chicago Bears should trade for Martavis Bryant
By Eric Brown
The Chicago Bears need all the receiving help they can get, trading for Martavis Bryant would give Mitchell Trubisky a legit wide receiver target to throw to.
So far this season, the Bears receiving has been, let’s just say less than spectacular. From the beginning of the season, they were doomed. Cameron Meredith went down before the season even got started, then Kevin White went down during the first game. Both of those are on the Injured Reserve and will not return this season. Defacto number two receiver, Markus Wheaton is the latest Bear to be bitten by the injury bug.
In 2017, according to ESPN, the Bears are in the bottom half of the league in basically every receiving category. Ranking 28th in ypg, 19th in receptions, and tied for 16th in touchdowns for. Right now, the Bears are trotting out Kendall Wright, Josh Bellamy, Tanner Gentry, and Tre McBride. Neither Wright or Bellamy are anything special, and the latter two of the four were just on the practice squad less than 2 weeks ago.

With new quarterback Mitchell Trubisky needing all the help he can get, trading for a receiver would seem like the smartest thing to do. The Bears, currently at 2-4 must be wondering if they can get a receiver, is it possible they can make the playoffs? With Aaron Rodgers breaking his collarbone, thus being ruled out for the rest of the season, it certainly is possible to make the playoffs out of the NFC North. On Sunday, against the Ravens, the Bears receivers had two catches for a total of 36 yards. That’s right. TWO CATCHES ALL GAME LONG.
Late Sunday night, it was reported that he was unhappy with his role on the team and has requested a trade.
Martavis Bryant could be the piece that takes the Bears, and Mitchell Trubisky over the top. Literally and figuratively, his speed and separation ability would make him an immediate downfield threat for the newest Bears QB.
However, after the rumor that he wanted out, Martavis posted this cryptic tweet.
This is a crazy situation, nobody knows what is next. Does Martavis really want out of the place that made him a star and gave him his job back coming off a suspension, without earning anything? Who knows. All that the Bears should be doing, is picking up the phone to call the Pittsburgh Steelers and offering a 4th or 5th round pick for a potential number 1 WR.
