Linebackers: A

My goodness, did the Chicago Bears love having Danny Trevathan back today or what?

A week after starting John Timu and Christian Jones, the Bears got the one healthy half of their original inside linebacking crew back today after Trevathan served his one-game suspension for the Davante Adams hit two weeks ago.

The numbers might indicate that Alex Collins and Javorius Allen had nice games, racking up 125 yards total. But truthfully, Trevathan and Jones got the better of those matchups outside of a few chunk plays.

Plus, the two combined to get the Bears on the board in the takeaway category as Jones ripped the ball away from Maxx Williams and Trevathan dove on the fumble.

I’m still holding out how that Nick Kwiatkoski can play soon and amp up the inside linebacker play even more. But for now, Jones will do.

On the outside, it didn’t look like Leonard Floyd or Pernell McPhee did a whole lot in the box score, but they still made their presence felt.

McPhee busted out a sack against his old team and drew a holding penalty in the game, as did Floyd. Floyd also did a few things that didn’t show up in the stat sheet, like using his length to cut off passing lanes. At one point, he reached up and forced an errant Flacco throw while pass rushing.

Overall, no one had to do anything spectacular yesterday; they just had to do their jobs. And they did.
