Chicago Bears vs. Baltimore Ravens: Defensive grades
The Chicago Bears defense had a throwback performance against the Baltimore Ravens, spurring the team to a 27-24.
As much as I loved the huge plays from Mitch Trubisky and Jordan Howard, let’s be real here: the Chicago Bears only won this game because their defense played lights out.
After struggling with takeaways for years, the Bears suddenly hit a windfall against the Baltimore Ravens. A fumble and two interceptions (including one pick-six) later, the defense had gifted the team a win they probably didn’t fully deserve on the whole.
Well, the defense played like they deserved it for the whole game, I will say that.
And that’s been the story for much of this season: the defense everyone was so worried about to start the season has easily carried the offense and played solidly.

Unfortunately, because they weren’t taking the ball away, they couldn’t do much to mitigate the offenses’ struggles.
Yesterday, they flipped the script, which ultimately won that game for the Chicago Bears.
I mean, what else are you going to do when your team’s offensive game plan continues to be “just don’t lose”?
Ah…but I’m getting ahead of myself.
Let’s take a look at how the defense performed at each level. Spoiler alert: they were pretty damn good.
