Chicago Bears vs Minnesota Vikings: 5 players to watch
By Eric Brown
Defensive End: Everson Griffen
The Minnesota Vikings have one of the deadliest defensive lines, with mainstays Linval Joseph and Tom Johnson playing second fiddle to Pro-Bowler Everson Griffen. Since being drafted by the Vikings out of USC in 2010, Griffen has totaled 53 sacks.
In last week’s game against the Detroit Lions, Griffen finished the game with five total tackles and one sack, continuing his streak of having a sack in every game in 2017. Everson will bring something totally new that the Bears have not faced so far this season. In last week’s loss against the Green Bay Packers, the offensive line was demolished, by a not so good defense line. That will not be the case, if the Bears want to have any hope of winning this game, they must win the battle in the trenches, something they have not done this year.
This may be a different game for Griffen, as the Bears finally made the move to start Mitchell Trubisky. Instead of Mike Glennon standing in the pocket, waiting for the moment to throw an interception if the line gets pushed back, Trubisky will likely use his legs to avoid pressure. No matter what happens, this should be a fun game to watch one of the best defensive ends’ in the league dominate the Bears opposing Offensive Line.
