Notre Dame moves up to 22nd in latest AP poll

After a dominating win against Miami(OH), Notre Dame football moves up to 22nd in latest AP poll.

So far in 2017 the Notre Dame Fighting Irish only have 1 loss, a one point loss to the Georgia Bulldogs. That loss will continue to look better and better every single week, as Georgia is pounding the rock towards an SEC Championship appearance against Alabama.

The goal for the Fighting Irish must be getting to a New Years Six bowl, there is no better way to wow the critics than a 52-17 beat down of a fellow FBS opponent. That is exactly what they did against Miami(OH). After the win, on Monday, Notre Dame was ranked 22nd in the AP poll.

The game started off just like any other game, a kickoff then an incomplete pass by Brandon Wimbush. Then, the unthinkable happened. Josh Adams broke off a 73 yard touchdown run less than 30 seconds into the game. He would also add a 59 yard touchdown later in the game.

That run would set the precedent for the rest of the game, as Adams would finish the contest with 159 yards on 8 carries, finding the end zone twice.

Even though Adams had a nice stat line, the game MVP would go to Brandon Wimbush who threw for 3 touchdowns and ran for another, from one yard out.

With an unbelievable run in the last 2 months of the season, Notre Dame may have an outside shot of making the college football playoffs for the first time since it’s inception. They currently have 3 games left against teams who are currently ranked in the AP poll, and by the time they play Stanford the last week of the season they could be ranked as well.

Notre Dame’s next game will come against North Carolina on Saturday, many are expecting Notre Dame to dominate Carolina in every single way possible. That is the problem with ND football, they lose the games they are expected to win. Notre Dame may end up winning that game by 30 points, but the real test comes 2 Saturdays’ from now when they take on longtime rival USC.
