With the news that Jake Arrieta may not pitch in Game 1, we have updated how the playoff rotation should go for the Chicago Cubs.

It is official: the first game of the NLDS against the Washington Nationals will be on Friday, Oct. 6 at approximately 6:31 CT.

The potential Game 1 starters may look a little different, as Max Scherzer is reportedly injured and may not pitch at all after leaving a game over the weekend with hamstring tightness.

The Chicago Cubs’ very own Jake Arrieta likely would have started Game 1 if he was not hurt, but Joe Maddon said that he would likely pencil him in after Games 1 and 2 of the NLDS.

This should be one of the most interesting playoff series’ around all of the MLB, with two of the most explosive offensives around the league there will likely be plenty of runs.

The Cubs offense is lead by 2016 MVP, Kris Bryant and his Bryzzo partner, Anthony Rizzo. The Washington Nationals are led by future $400 million dollar man in Bryce Harper.

Another thing of note will be the starting pitching, as three former CY Young winners will be taking the mound at some point during the series.

With that being said, let’s take a look at how the playoff rotation should go knowing that Arrieta will not be pitching until at least Game 3.
