With the Chicago Bears desperately needing any help at wide receiver they can get, Tre McBride has been called up from the practice squad.

Finally, the Chicago Bears made the decision at quarterback to start Mitchell Trubisky over Mike Glennon ahead of week 5’s matchup with the Minnesota Vikings. With the QB situation handled, they fixed another skill position they were in high demand of, by calling up Wide Receiver Tre McBride from the practice squad. The Bears are clearly looking towards the future with these decisions, something the fans will certainly love.

More from Chicago Bears

After Cameron Meredith and Kevin White both got hurt early in the season, and subsequently being place on season ending IR, the Bears decided not to sign anybody at the position. They have stuck with incumbents Kendall Wright, Josh Bellamy, Deonte Thompson and Markus Wheaton for the first four games of the season. None of them showed anything special, with all of them constantly dropping very catchable passes. To put in simple terms, something needed to change, and fast.

In come Tre McBride. He may not end up being the star that the Chicago Bears desperately need, but if he can prove that he can catch the ball in between the hash marks, odds are he will stick with the team. When McBride first came into the NFL in 2015, his NFL Draft profile described a few of his strengths as being able to make circus catches look like simple catches, and that he is a competitive runner after the catch. Just by that description alone, he will be a welcome sight to rookie QB Mitchell Trubisky, who will be making his first start on Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings.

When it comes down to it, it was time to make a change in the receiving core. Tre McBride may not play a whole lot in his first game, but in the coming weeks he may very well play a big part in the offensive scheme.
