Chicago Bears: Long, Wheaton and Amukamara all in vs. Steelers
The Chicago Bears get should get Kyle Long, Markus Wheaton and Prince Amukamara back from injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In a year filled with awful injury news, the Chicago Bears will return a few oft-injured stars today.
Guard Kyle Long, receiver Markus Wheaton, and cornerback Prince Amukamara all should make their season debuts against the Pittsburgh Steelers this afternoon, filling in desperate holes on their Bears’ roster.
Long, who has been recovering from an ankle injury, returns to an offensive line that suffered multiple injuries last week. Against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tom Compton and Josh Sitton both left the game at points. Sitton, the starting right guard, is doubtful to play after missing practice all week, while Compton is questionable to return.

Long’s presence can cover at least one guard spot in case both can’t play. And, if Compton can play along with Long, Cody Whitehair could stay put at center rather than play multiple guard positions.
Wheaton, in particular, could be a substantial boost to a bad receiving group in need of help.
Sure, we have no idea if Mike Glennon will actually throw him the ball down the field or not. But at the very least, his speed threat can threaten the Steelers’ defense more than anyone they currently have. The Steelers know better than anyone what a healthy Wheaton provides.
And Amukamara adds more depth to a corner position that has, thus far, played surprisingly solid football early on.

Whether he starts or not has yet to be determined, given Kyle Fuller‘s resurgence early in the season. But against a team like the Steelers, the Bears can use all the help they can get in containing their many offensive weapons.
Of course, the Bears, unfortunately, can’t have all good news, with Compton’s and Sitton’s statuses uncertain and Nick Kwiatkoski (pec) definitely out for a few weeks.
But at this point, the Bears will take whatever they can get in terms of getting healthy.
