We are now into the third week of college football in 2017, with the first two weeks certainly not lacking excitement. Contenders are starting to take shape, as are serious NFL draft prospects. Both of which will be featured in this weeks marquee matchup, Clemson vs Louisville.
Despite being the reigning National Champions, Clemson entered the 2017 season with uncertainty. Many of the Tigers key players were lost to the NFL, including starting quarterback Deshaun Watson, and starting wide receivers Artavis Scott and Mike Williams. Clemson has quickly shaken off all the doubt just two weeks in, as the Tigers replacements haven’t missed a beat in their 2-0 start.
Louisville’s path to contention has been a little different. Led by reigning Heisman trophy winner Lamar Jackson, the Cardinals entered 2017 ranked 16th amidst doubts about supporting talent. The Cardinals have also proved the doubters wrong, as they are also 2-0 to start off the season.
Last season’s Clemson vs Louisville matchup was one of the best games of last season. Clemson barely eeked out a 42-36 win in a matchup of two unbeaten teams. This year’s game figures to be just as close and competitive, as both teams have National Title aspirations.
The Bears lost their opener to the Atlanta Falcons, leading many to believe that this season will be much last like season- a season in which the Bears finished 3-13. If that is the case, there are several players in this game that very well could be targets for the Bears in next year’s draft. In a game that will feature top-notch offenses and defenses, there is a lot for Bears fans to watch in Clemson vs Louisville.
