Chicago Bears lose to Atlanta Falcons: Offensive grades
To be honest, given how decimated this position group is for the Chicago Bears, a C+ isn’t the worst grade they could’ve gotten. And seeing as how they might be the worst receiving corps in the league, the Bears may have to get used to that.
For one thing, the whole “treat Kevin White like a top receiver” thing doesn’t look like it’s going to work out.
In terms of raw production, White was an absolute non-factor in this game, managing just two catches for six yards on four targets.
And then, on his second reception of the game, White took a hit that may have broken his collarbone. First off, what a buzzkill. Secondly, are the Bears seriously facing the prospect of having Kendall Wright be their number-one receiver? Not good…

Yeah, Wright, Deonte Thompson and Josh Bellamy made a few catches at the end of the game. But if they have to consistently face top cornerbacks and safeties all game, how productive can we really expect them to be? And what will happen when defenses realize that Glennon doesn’t want to throw the ball more than five yards downfield?
Of course, the Bears could try to utilize their tight ends more in the next few weeks. After all, Glennon did hit on six passes for 70 yards to Zach Miller and Dion Sims yesterday. And perhaps Taquan Mizzell starts making appearances as a receiver, given his pass-catching ability.
All I know is: someone–preferably multiple people–needs to step up and catch passes for the Bears.
