Final. 23. 44. 17. 57

The Chicago Bears gave it a great effort, but they fell short anyway, losing 23-17 to the Atlanta Falcons.

After all that, the Chicago Bears season-opener ended up the way we all expected: with a loss at the hands of the defending NFC Champion Atlanta Falcons. But aside from the outcome, the game unfolded in a completely different way than many predicted.

Who would’ve predicted that Mike Glennon actually played well enough to deserve this win, only to let down by others? Who would’ve imagined the Bears – aside from two ill-fated plays – would bottle up the Falcons’ lethal offensive attack?

And who would’ve expected Tarik Cohen, not Jordan Howard, to clearly be the best running back on the Bears roster today?

If nothing else, the Chicago Bears kept this game interesting until the very end. In the meantime, they certainly gave fans plenty to be optimistic about.

But in the end, no matter how hard they fought, they dropped – yeah, had to do it – another close game under John Fox. And at some point, you have to eventually win one.
