Chicago Bears: Five players to watch against the Atlanta Falcons
Mike Glennon
The Bears announced over the weekend that Mike Glennon will be the starting quarterback on Sunday, with rookie Mitch Trubisky being the backup. Being the starting quarterback on any NFL team carries lofty expectations, but Glennon’s are a bit higher. After signing a big contract in the offseason, Glennon needs to live up to the money and produce.
Facing a good Falcons defense, Glennon will need to produce everywhere. Glennon will need to stay poised against the deadly blitz, and will also need to make quality, accurate throws in order to move the chains and keep the offense consistent. The play of Mike Glennon will be the deciding factor in Sunday’s game.

With many believing that Trubisky should’ve been named the starter, Glennon has a big chip on his shoulder.
For a player who hasn’t been tested through adversity, this game will be a test to how Glennon can handle the pressure of being a starting quarterback. The quarterback position is always important, but it feels more and more important as time goes on for the Bears.
The Bears don’t exactly have a great receiving core either, making Glennon’s job even harder.
With Cameron Meredith out for the season and Alshon Jeffrey gone, Glennon will need to make his own big plays. The receivers still need to step up, but the consistency of an offense starts and finishes with the play of the quarterback.
Although its week one, Glennon’s job could depend on the outcome of this game. With Mitch Trubisky waiting in the wings following a red hot preseason, Glennon needs a solid performance to stabilize the status of his job. Glennon likely won’t have a short leash, but he still needs to play like he deserves to be the starter.
