Tanner Gentry, wide receiver

It is absolutely mind-boggling that Josh Bellamy made the 53-man roster over Tanner Gentry, who made far more plays on offense this preseason. Bellamy is supposed to be a special teams specialist, yet he really is not special on special teams either.

What did Gentry do this preseason? He caught a 45-yard touchdown pass deep down the field.

Gentry is a very nice deep threat, as you can see once again on this next play.

I am going to be completely honest. I have seen enough of Bellamy to last a lifetime. His play at wide receiver is absolutely infuriating. For every one step forward that he takes, he takes two steps backward.

Pace chose to waive a player that has a knack for catching the football in favor of a player that makes a living dropping the football. Is Bellamy a better special teams player than Gentry? Maybe, but what Bellamy does well is teachable to Gentry. What Gentry does well is something you can not teach to Bellamy.

I hope that Gentry clears waivers and is placed on the practice squad. I feel like Gentry is going to get his opportunity to make plays in regular season games soon. However, he should be making them week 1, instead. I hope Pace realizes this before Bellamy drops any more crucial first downs.
