Chicago Bears: Five recently cut players Chicago should sign
Mike Jordan, CB
Similar to some guy with the same name getting cut from his high school basketball team, cornerback Mike Jordan was among the roster cuts for the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday. Jordan went undrafted last year but showed some skills down the stretch for the Rams. He was a 2016 draft favorite of mine and I would love to see the Bears give him a chance to compete on their roster.

Jordan is a long and athletic cornerback who shows some nice man-to-man skills on the outside. His length and ability to press at the line of scrimmage would make him an ideal fit for Vic Fangio’s defense. Also, Jordan’s best skill is his ability to attack the ball. He has legitimate ball skills for an NFL cornerback and could grow into a solid starting option on the outside down the line.
Basically, I think Jordan has a lot of long-term upside. He started to show it with the Rams last season and had an impressive draft profile. Jordan is far from a guaranteed stud, but he is an interesting prospect who I would like to see the Bears take a look at.
I think Jordan would make more sense on the Chicago Bears roster than Sherrick McManis. I know, McManis is a special teams star. But how valuable is that on a roster that is not expected to compete in 2017? McManis is a terrible cornerback. At least Jordan provides some long-term upside.
Plus, Jordan has shown some special teams ability in spurts. He played well in coverage units for the Rams last season and in the preseason. He would not be as good at it as McManis, but Jordan would be able to step up and play a special teams role. Add in his defensive upside and getting him over McManis makes a lot of sense.
