Chicago Bears: Five recently cut players Chicago should sign
The Bears appear ready to head into the season with eight offensive linemen. Charles Leno, Kyle Long, Cody Whitehair, Josh Sitton and Bobby Massie will be the starters, while Hroniss Grasu, Tom Compton and Bradley Sowell will back them up.
There are two offensive linemen on the open market who stand out as better backup options than at least two of the Bears’ current reserve linemen. I would love to see Chicago go after one, if not both, of these guys.
Jah Reid, OL
Jah Reid is a 6-foot-7, 321-pound offensive lineman who the Kansas City Chiefs had to cut after acquiring Cameron Erving on Wednesday. Reid has struggled a bit this preseason, but he is a versatile offensive lineman who has some starting experience.
Over the last two years with the Chiefs, Reid has appeared in 22 games and started 11, primarily filling in at right guard and tackle. He is not an elite offensive lineman, but Reid is a strong swing tackle who could legitimately be a better option at right tackle than the Bears’ current starter, Bobby Massie.

I would rather see Reid on the Bears’ current roster than either Compton or Sowell.
Max Rich, OL
Max Rich signed as undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots, after an impressive college career at Harvard. Rich is not a proven player by any means, but he shows ideal size and quickness for an offensive lineman.
Simply put, this guy moves extremely well in pass protection and I think he has legitimately left tackle upside down the line. Rich is extremely raw, but the potential to be a strong piece up front is certainly there.
I would love to see the Bears solidify their offensive line by signing Reid, then take a shot on Rich’s upside. Compton and Sowell are both perfectly expendable players. Reid and Grasu would then be the primary reserves, while Rich would remain inactive unless there is an emergency.
