John Fox should not be the head coach next season

What transpired in the final minutes of the fourth quarter of the game is absolutely on Fox. The Chicago Bears only dressed two quarterbacks for tonight’s game: Trubisky and Connor Shaw, who entered the game in the second quarter.

Late in the game, Shaw took a nasty hit and the head referee, Clete Blakeman, removed him from the game to be inspected by an independent neurologist. So, Trubisky came in for a few plays and handed the ball off to the running back for a couple plays, which is fine.

Later, Shaw was out there running for his life behind the backup offensive line and took another big hit on the sideline. He immediately grabbed his leg and had to come out of the game, again. So, here comes Trubisky, once again.

Rather than just run the ball to run the clock out, they decide to have Trubisky throw a screen pass, in which a Browns player pushes Trubisky to the ground. You would think that would be enough for Fox and Loggains to realize that they should not let Trubisky attempt another pass in the game. Wrong.

Trubisky threw again, and on the last play of the game took a sack. Rather than have the new long snapper practice a snap at Soldier Field and attempt a field goal to at least put three points on the board, Fox let the face of the franchise take unnecessary hits in the final moments of the fourth preseason game.

Think about that. Is this the head coach that Trubisky needs making decisions for him? No, it is not. Can someone tell Fox that, while it will not be the last time Trubisky is hit, you should do anything you can to avoid it, when possible? This is just common sense, which apparently is not common for Fox. Will Fox be fired before the season? It is possible. Will Fox be fired after the season is over? I would give it a 95% chance that he is gone.
