Let’s be honest, the Chicago Bears are unlikely to be competitive in 2017. That means it’s not too early to look ahead to the 2018 NFL Draft. Which draft prospects should Bears fans be watching in the marquee matchup of the weekend, Alabama vs. Florida State.

In just over a week, the Chicago Bears will begin the 2017 regular season. While there are plenty of interesting players on this Bears’ roster, they are unlikely to be competitive this season. As we approach another rebuilding year in the Windy City, it is easy to look ahead to the 2018 NFL Draft.

The college football season kicks off with a bang on Saturday night, as two top-four teams face off in a prime time matchup. Alabama is coming off a season in which they came just four seconds away from their second straight national championship. Florida State had a successful 2016 season as well, defeating Michigan in the Orange Bowl.

Despite losing key players to the NFL draft, both teams flaunt some of the top returning talent in the nation, as well as top-five recruiting classes. Alabama and Florida State both expect to be in the playoff conservation throughout the season, while this game having big playoff implications even in week one.

Alabama and Florida State are also two of the top producers of NFL draft talent. There are as many as 5-8 potential first round picks playing in this game, giving a reason for Bears fans in particular to watch the matchup. With the Bears potentially having another high draft pick next year, a prime time game loaded with potential draft targets can give fans an early look at potential draftees.

The game is ESPN’s College GameDay site game, which is typically the game of the week. Throughout the season, we will do a post much like this one highlighting five players to watch in the game of the week. This will help educate fans on potential Chicago Bears draft picks while highlighting key games and players throughout the college football season.
