Cameron Meredith, Wide Receiver

Did you know that Cameron Meredith is the Chicago Bears number one wide receiver? Yes, he has played in both preseason games. He has accumulated a whopping two catches for 23 yards in two games combined.

Now, I can not say that it’s all his fault. The starters only played for one quarter against the Denver Broncos and one half against the Arizona Cardinals. Still, that is three quarters altogether and Meredith made little impact.

The biggest issue facing Cameron Meredith is the quarterback, which happens to be Mike Glennon, who has played terribly. Meredith is no slouch. He accumulated 888 yards on 66 catches last year, with four different quarterbacks.

Meredith is wide open on this play, yet Glennon throws it at the ground. Meredith has to readjust and make the low catch. While the play resulted in a first down, I thought he even had the opportunity to pick up quite a few yards on the play.

Here is another bad throw by Mike Glennon. You can see Glennon pump the ball and then throw it. Not to mention he has an extremely slow wind-up. By the time he makes his decision to throw, the Cardinals’ cornerback is able to easily break the play up. Cameron Meredith never stood a chance.

Here is another bad throw by Mike Glennon that is intended for Cameron Meredith. While Meredith is technically covered by the cornerback, Meredith is able to establish position and get open. As long as the pass is delivered in front of him, it should be a touchdown. So, what does Glennon do? He threw it behind Meredith.

With Mitchell Trubisky playing with the starters against the Titans, we might be able to see what Meredith is able to accomplish with an accurate quarterback throwing him the ball. Meredith has a chance to be special. Hopefully, that is on display this Sunday with Trubisky feeding him nice throws all over the field.
