Complete Chicago Bears 2017 53-man roster predictions
Safeties
Starters: Quintin Demps and Eddie Jackson
Backups: Adrian Amos, Deiondre’ Hall and Harold Jones-Quartey
The Chicago Bears have an interesting battle taking place at the safety position. Free agent acquisition Quintin Demps will undoubtedly start at one safety position, but who will start next to him is up in the air.
Adrian Amos has been a two-year starter for the Chicago Bears and has had some success. Amos is not an overly flashy player, but he does his job well. He can play in the box and also has some deep coverage skills. Amos is not much of a ballhawk, but he is not going to kill you at the safety position.
However, fourth-round rookie Eddie Jackson is a big-time playmaker. Jackson has looked fantastic in his short time with the Bears and I think John Fox should start him opposite of Demps. Amos is a solid player, but Jackson is clearly more talented and has a chance to make many big plays. Plus, having Jackson to play the deep safety position allows Demps to play closer to the line of scrimmage where he thrives the most.
No matter who starts, the Bears’ top three of Demps, Jackson and Amos at the safety position is strong.
After that it gets pretty ugly. I decided to list Deiondre’ Hall as a safety here. Hall plays both cornerback and safety, but it not a threat to start at either position. He is a long and relatively athletic defensive back who shows strong ball skills. Hall has some long-term upside and could provide quality depth for the Bears at multiple positions.
Harold Jones-Quartey just barely made the cut. Jones-Quartey is an inconsistent player but he flashes signs of being a strong coverage safety. I do not expect him to be a major contributor in 2017, but Jones Quartey is a guy who I would like to see the Bears keep around if they can.
Specialists
Kicker: Connor Barth
Punter: Pat O’Donnell
Long Snapper: Patrick Scales
Nothing too exciting going on with the Chicago Bears’ specialists. Punter Pat O’Donnell and long snapper Patrick Scales are both perfectly acceptable at their respective positions and have literally no competition.

The kicker position is a bit interesting at the moment after the Bears signed Robert Aguayo last week. Aguayo was a second-round pick in 2016 but seems to have some serious confidence issues at the moment. Aguayo still has some long-term upside, but it is hard to see him figuring out his issues before the season.
Connor Barth will likely be the Chicago Bears kicker again in 2017.
