Mitch Trubisky continues to shine

The 2017 second overall selection looked like a seasoned veteran against the Broncos last week. While he didn’t throw for 166 yards in this game, he still looks like the best quarterback on the team.

Mitch Trubisky completed 6-of-8 passes for 60 yards and a touchdown. He did not record a turnover, although there was a dropped interception. Then again he was throwing an out route to Titus Davis, so take that as you will.

John Fox stuck to his depth chart (surprise) and played Mark Sanchez before Trubisky. What purpose that serves will remain a mystery. Mark Sanchez should not be playing a down in the preseason, except for the fourth preseason game. Sanchez is taking valuable reps away from Trubisky. If Sanchez has to play in the regular season, the offense is done for anyways, so what’s the point?

I seriously question Fox’s ability to manage the future of Mitchell Trubisky. If he does not want to see him start a preseason game, fine. However, there’s no reason he should be entering the game with two minutes left in the third quarter like he did tonight.

I would still like to see Trubisky get some time with the starters at some point next week against the Tennessee Titans. Fox should put him in halfway through the second quarter. It’s time to see what the kid’s got.
