The Chicago White Sox announced that starting pitchers Lucas Giolito and Michael Kopech have been promoted. Giolito will join the Major League club on Monday and Kopech will join Triple-A Charlotte.

With the recent call up of Reynaldo Lopez, most Chicago White Sox fans had Lucas Giolito as the next prospect to get the nod. And that happened on Friday, as the White Sox announced that Giolito will join the club on Monday. Giolito will make his first start for the White Sox during a double header with the Minnesota Twins.

Giolito has a lot of talent and could become a top of the rotation type of starter if he stays healthy. Giolito hasn’t been as dominant in Triple-A as Reynaldo Lopez was. However, Giolito does have a seven-inning no hitter under his belt for the Charlotte Knights this season. Things have been looking up as of late, as Giolito has been on fire.

As you can see lately it looks like Giolito has found his stride back on the mound.

The Chicago White Sox rebuild is in full swing now. First Yoan Moncada, then Lopez and now Giolito. Probably the three biggest names that started the rebuild back in December. Also, don’t forget about Nicky Delmonico who is playing great baseball for the White Sox.

Michael Kopech

Along with Giolito getting promoted flame-throwing righty Michael Kopech will join the Charlotte Knights on Monday. Kopech started off the season in Double-A and hasn’t really looked back. He has done everything in his power to get himself to the next level and the White Sox have noticed that and gave him his promotion.

Kopech will likely get three starts in Triple-A before the end of the year and will undoubtedly generate a lot of buzz. If he pitches well, Kopech could be a surprise September call-up. There could be a real possibility that the White Sox could give Kopech a taste of the big leagues in late September. I wouldn’t count on it, but it is a possibility.

Things are starting to get exciting on the South Side.
