Complete game details for the preseason Week 2 matchup between the Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals.

Despite losing by a score of 24-17, the Chicago Bears had an extremely interesting first week of the preseason. It all started on the first offensive drive, when starting quarterback Mike Glennon threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown on his second pass. Glennon led the Bears offense on four drives and was not able to get anything going. They did not score any points with him on the field.

Late in the first half, John Fox and company turned to rookie quarterback Mitch Trubisky who immediately led the Bears down the field for a touchdown. Trubisky showed incredible poise for a rookie quarterback and led the Bears to all 17 of their points while he was under center.

The second-overall selection out of North Carolina showed off impressive arm strength, accuracy to all fields and fantastic overall mobility. Make no mistake about it, Mitch Trubisky looked the part of a high-caliber NFL starting quarterback last week.

Can he keep it up this week against the Cardinals? That remains to be seen. But if Trubisky dominates while Glennon continues to struggle, I don’t think the Bears can ignore their quarterback situation any longer. A true quarterback battle will likely be on their hands. This is a big week for both of these quarterbacks.

Arizona is a strong football team who will be a great test for the Bears’ starters on both sides of the ball. In particular, it will be interesting to see if Glennon can get anything going against an extremely talented defense. I will also have my eyes on the first-team secondary. How will the starting cornerback duo of Prince Amukamara and Marcus Cooper look against talented wide receivers like Larry Fitzgerald and John Brown? That will be an interesting matchup to watch.

Rookie tight end Adam Shaheen will be another player who I will be closely watching. The second-round pick out of Ashland was not able to make much of an impact against the Broncos, finishing with only one reception for three yards last week. I look for Shaheen to impose his will against the second and third-string Cardinals linebackers and have a big game.

Chicago does not expect to be competitive in 2017. If we are being honest, it will probably be a long season for the Monsters of the Midway. That being said, this is a young and exciting roster filled with a lot of upside. We will see their most interesting players on full display on Saturday night against Arizona.
