Mike Glennon was atrocious

The Chicago Bears received elite play out of their quarterback of the future, but their current starter was awful on Thursday night. Mike Glennon was under center for the Bears through the first four drives of the game. He went 2/8 for 20 yards and one interception. Glennon finished the night with a hilariously bad 0.0 passer rating. Honestly, his first appearance in a Bears’ uniform could not have gone much worse.

Glennon led the Bears onto the field to start the game. On their first drive, Glennon threw a pass that was dropped by Cameron Meredith. On 3rd and 8, Glennon badly under-threw a pass on the left side of the field that was easily picked off by Chris Harris and returned 50 yards for a touchdown. Not exactly an ideal way to start the game.

The Bears’ big free agent addition could not get anything going, looking completely overmatched against the Broncos’ defense. The only positive play that I saw from Glennon came on his last drive. On a 3rd and 4, he found Kendall Wright in the middle of the field for a gain of 14. He fit the ball nicely into tight coverage on that play, but that was the only time we saw anything positive like that.

Glennon was under center for the Bears on four drives. The first drive resulted in the pick six. The second was a three and out followed by a botched snap recovered by the defense on the third play of the next drive. The Bears did move the ball down the field on Glennon’s final drive but it still resulted in a punt.

Mike Glennon really could not have looked worse on Thursday night. He is still the Bears’ starter, but if he continues to play his poorly while Trubisky shines, a change at the position needs to be taken into consideration.
