Chicago Bulls: Grading each move made this offseason
Bulls sign Justin Holiday: Two years, $9 million
Chicago Bulls Grade: B
Just a few days after bringing Felicio back into the fold, the Bulls went out and made a move in free agency, signing Justin Holiday to a two-year contract worth $9 million. Holiday played with the Bulls two years ago, averaging 6.5 points in 27 games.
Holiday went to the New York Knicks last season as a part of the Derrick Rose trade. In his only season in New York, Holiday averaged 7.7 points and appeared in all 82 games.
At 28-years-old, Holiday does not have a ton of long-term upside. However, he is a long and athletic perimeter defender who shoots well from the outside. He is not going to make or break the Bulls’ rebuild, but wings are hard to come by in today’s NBA.
While he is never going to be a star, Holiday is a solid bench wing who could certainly help a contender down the line. At worst, Holiday is a solid contributor off of the bench for the Bulls. However, in an obvious rebuild situation, they really do not need him on the roster. If Holiday continues to be a solid producer, I could see the Bulls flipping him in-season for a decent asset or two.
A good player at a completely reasonable price, signing Holiday was a good move for the Chicago Bulls.
