Everybody knows that the Chicago White Sox have a plethora of talent in the minor leagues. It’s also not a secret that starting pitcher Reynaldo Lopez has done everything in his power to earn a promotion to the majors. So, what are the White Sox waiting for?

Reynaldo Lopez came over to the Chicago White Sox from the Washington Nationals in the Adam Eaton deal over the offseason. Lopez already has major league experience under his belt, going 5-3 with a 4.96 ERA last season with the Nats.

The White Sox obviously don’t want to rush any player to the big leagues, and there should not be any hurry at all, as they continue to slide in the standings and have no signs of being competitive any time soon. However, Lopez has been on another level the past month and a half for the Charlotte Knights.

Lopez has been a strikeout machine racking up 53 strikeouts in his last 39.2 innings pitched. Not only has his strikeouts been on point, but his ERA the last seven games is 1.82. Simply put: Lopez is ready.

So what are the Chicago White Sox waiting for? The only person that can answer that question is Rick Hahn himself. But if I had to guess, I would say it’s simply Hahn and company do not want to bring anyone up that’s not ready. Although Lopez has had success at the Major League level, he also had his struggles. The White Sox were well aware of those struggles and that’s one of the reasons he started the season off in Triple-A.

With that being said, I think it’s getting to the point where Lopez cannot really do any more than he is doing now to earn a call-up. What is there left to prove at Triple-A? Lopez is ready to contribute in the rotation for the White Sox and I look for his promotion to come any day now. He has done too much to not deserve a shot and I do fully expect the White Sox front office to make the move.
