Will Floyd become an elite pass rusher?

Speaking of the front seven, Leonard Floyd will take the next step in 2017.

What is the next step?

Floyd will get to the quarterback more consistently which will lead to more hurries and sacks. He needs to be stronger against the run, so he can be a three down player. He is long and lean and is the perfect body type to play in Vic Fangio’s defensive system. Floyd has great speed off the edge, but he needs to incorporate more moves into his repertoire. He can not just rely on his speed.

Floyd showed his abilities in flashes throughout the 2016 season. He gave reasons for the Bears and Bears fans to be excited. Floyd finished last year with seven sacks and 23 tackles. In Week 5 and 9 he had two sacks in each game.

Additionally, he forced a safety in the Week 9 game against the San Francisco 49ers. Look for him to take the next step in becoming a mainstay on the Chicago Bears defense.

Floyd, Pernell McPhee, Willie Young are just some of the names on the Chicago Bears’ defense that will wreak havoc on opposing quarterbacks. Akiem Hicks was also a beast on the defensive line this past season. He finished with seven sacks in 16 games.

Each of these players will benefit if Floyd can take the next step. Opposing offenses cannot block everyone. The more weapons on defense, the more creative Vic Fangio can be.
