Is there enough at wide receiver?

The Chicago Bears added several wide receivers this past offseason, but can they get consistent production out of them? With newly signed Mike Glennon at the helm, the Bears’ offense hinges on the chemistry between the new receivers and quarterback can develop. Which wide receiver will step up and make an impact?

My bet is Kevin White, the Bears’ first round draft pick from 2015. For the third year in a row, Kevin White needs to stay healthy, simple as that. White has shown his talents in small sample sizes. He has 19 catches for 187 yards, which is good for 9.8 yards a catch in his career as a Bear. He has the size and speed to be a really good receiver in the NFL, but he’s not doing the Bears any good standing on the sideline in street clothes.

Can the newly signed Kendall Wright, Markus Wheaton and Rueben Randle recapture their production from earlier in their careers?  I am not holding my breath.

Wright only played in 11 games in 2016 and his targets have decreased each year since 2013. He has only topped 1000 yards receiving once in his year, which also happened in 2013 with the Tennessee Titans. Wright is only 27 years old, so there could still be some production left in his legs.

For Wheaton, he played in three games during the 2016 season due to a shoulder injury with minimal production. I think out of the free agent signings, Wheaton has the most potential. He is only 26 years old and comes into a situation without a true alpha wide receiver. If he can prove to be a go to guy, he can put up some solid numbers this season.

Rueben Randle is another young guy, that could hopefully use a change of scenery. He is only 26 years old. There is a definitely a noticeable trend with these signings. Young guys that can use a fresh start. Hopefully, a new start and bring out some competitiveness in Randle considering a lack there of has plagued him in the past.

Cameron Meredith had a nice season last year. He finished with 66 receptions and 888 yards receiving while playing in 14 games, which is encouraging.

There is a variety of question marks regarding the Bears’ weakest position group. I have a feeling the Bears’ passing attack will be frustrating to watch.
