There are many questions about the Chicago Bears offense and defense coming into the 2017 season. Here are five questions that need answers.

After a brutal 2016 season, the Chicago Bears look to bounce back after a 3-13 finish. They had a few players stand out, but the most memorable part of last season was Jay Cutler passing the torch to Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley. The Bears finally moved on from Jay Cutler. We will see if that was the right move in the coming years.

There are more questions that need to be answered than just who is going to play quarterback. The Bears signed multiple wide receivers who performed decently in the past, but players do not get paid for what they did in the past in the NFL. Whoever is playing quarterback and the wide receivers need to build chemistry quickly so they can be ready for Week 1 of the regular season.

There are many new faces in the secondary as well. The Bears are trying to plug some holes in the secondary with veteran players. The defensive backs will be at least above average this year if everyone were to stay healthy.

A good front seven can also mask average play from the secondary. If the quarterback does not have time to throw, corners do not have to guard their man as long. Leonard Floyd can play a major role in putting pressure on the opposing quarterback. He will take a step forward in becoming a dominant defensive player.

Ryan Pace signed Mike Glennon to a three deal worth $45 million and drafted Mitch Trubisky with the second overall pick in the NFL Draft. The Bears have many holes to fill and drafting a quarterback was at the top of the list. Teams do not succeed anymore if they do not have a capable quarterback to run their offense. Ryan Pace identified Trubisky as the future of the Chicago Bears and got his guy. It is hard to be upset with that.

While Glennon and Trubisky will likely decide how successful the Bears are, Jordan Howard will also play a major role. It will be interesting to see if Howard can repeat his 2016 offensive production. The hope is he can put the Bears’ offense in manageable down and distances so the quarterbacks can make simple decisions when throwing it.
