Five remaining free agents the Chicago Bulls should target
2. JaMychal Green

If the Chicago Bulls are going to compete in today’s NBA, they need to step into the modern game. That means that they need to find more outside shooting to space the floor and versatile defensive players. I would love to the see the Bulls find a big man who can legitimately switch on to the guard positions and JaMychal Green would be the perfect fit.

Green has thrived with the Memphis Grizzlies the past two seasons, particularly last year when he started 75 games. During the 2016-17 season, Green averaged 8.9 points and 7.1 rebounds for the Grizzlies. However, his value to the team will rarely show up in the box score.
Green is a long and versatile defender on the defensive end. He can protect the rim well and bang inside but Green also shows the ability to defend on the perimeter. For a big man, Green can handle switching situations extremely well. That is obviously important in today’s NBA.
On the offensive end, Green is never going to be a huge volume scorer. However, he is a strong finisher who can make plays in the pick and roll game and can even stretch the defense a bit. Green shot 37.9% from three-point range last season. He is not a three-point marksman, but Green does provide a threat for defenses to worry about on the outside.
As a big man who can run the floor well and hit an outside shot, Green is a strong fit for Fred Hoiberg‘s offensive system. Add in his defensive value and rebounding ability and Green could be a significant player for the Bulls in 2017 and beyond. I would much rather see the Bulls make a run at Green instead of simply bringing back Mirotic.
