Five remaining free agents the Chicago Bulls should target
3. Shabazz Muhammad
Position: Guard
Height: 6-foot-6
Weight: 223 pounds
Age: 24 years old
NBA Experience: Four Years
The Minnesota Timberwolves have made some significant additions this offseason. Chief among them was trading for Jimmy Butler from the Chicago Bulls. After making significant additions at the guard position, the Timberwolves no longer had room for Shabazz Muhammad. Perhaps he would be a solid addition to the Bulls rebuild?
Muhammad has career averages of 9.7 points and 3 rebounds per game through his four years in Minnesota. He has never been able to reach his full potential, but Muhammad is a solid bench scorer who still has some long-term upside.
He was once a top recruit in high school and a real playmaker at UCLA. However, his career 32.3% shooting from three-point range has killed his ability to make a significant impact in the NBA.
Muhammad is an athletic player who has a savvy game in the post for a guard. He shows a variety of ways to score the basketball, but his inability to hit an outside shot has killed his value in the modern game.
For the Bulls, Muhammad would be little more than a flyer. He would not be expected to be a major part of their rebuild. However, he has the upside to grow into an important player for the team.
He is only 24 years old, a former first round pick and has shown the ability to score in the NBA. Muhammad is far from a perfect NBA player but he could have a chance to grow into a solid bench option for the Bulls for many years.
