Five players who the Chicago White Sox should trade prior to the July 31st MLB Trade Deadline.

As expected, the Chicago White Sox are not competitive this season. At 35-45, they have one of the worst records in the American League and have shown no signs of making a run. Just like they did with the Chris Sale and Adam Eaton trades this offseason, the White Sox will be sellers before the July 31st MLB trade deadline.

The White Sox undoubtedly have some interesting veteran pieces for contenders to consider. When it comes down to it, current White Sox’ players may significantly impact races in both leagues. Let’s take a look at who the Chicago White Sox should trade prior to the MLB trade deadline. Here are the top five candidates:

Todd Frazier, 3B

Prior to the 2016 season, the Chicago White Sox swung a trade for third baseman Todd Frazier from the Cincinnati Reds. The three-team deal also involving the Los Angeles Dodgers involved many young assets exchanging hands and the White Sox taking the established Frazier.

Frazier has not exactly been an impact bat for the White Sox. He hit .225/.302/.464 with a 102 wRC+ (FanGraphs) last season. Through 71 games in 2017, Frazier is hitting .211/.324/.437 with a 101 wRC+. Basically, Frazier has become a league-average offensive player since joining the White Sox.

He still has some power (I mean, he did hit 40 home runs last season), but his contact ability is abysmal. With the 31-year-old Frazier set to hit free agency this offseason and the White Sox having a ready-made replacement in Matt Davidson on the roster, trading him now undoubtedly makes the most sense.

The White Sox are unlikely to get much in a trade for Frazier but they should be able to get something. He means nothing to the future of the franchise so taking anything that they can get would be wise.
