According to a recent report, the Chicago Bulls are considering moving on from general manager Gar Forman.

The Chicago Bulls‘ front office is a mix. Between John Paxson and Gar Forman, they have seemingly not done anything right the past few seasons. This franchise was long overdue for a rebuild and waiting too long hurt their chances of it being successful. Now that the rebuild is here, can we really trust this front office to make the right decisions?

Most Bulls fans want to see a major shakeup in the front office. If we are being honest, that probably is not going to happen. Paxson is in great standing with the organization and is not going anywhere. That being said, that does not mean that getting rid of general manager Gar Forman isn’t necessary.

Forman has been a major part of all the bad decisions in recent years, and if nothing else, the Bulls need a fresh face in the position. Before they get too deep in this rebuild, the Chicago Bulls need to cut ties with Gar Forman. Well, according to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, this scenario is being talked about by Bulls’ management.

"“A source told the Sun-Times, however, that there is some shuffling going on that might not bode well for Forman in the long run,” Cowley wrote‘‘Keep an eye on [consultant] Jim Paxson,’’ the source said, referring to John’s older brother, who seems to be taking on more duties.“Front offices do have a shelf life. And while John Paxson remains safe, Forman’s hold on his job appears to be more tenuous. He has too many ‘‘yes men’’ around him and has rubbed too many former players the wrong way.”"

Cowley also mentions that two decisions that have not gone well for the Bulls are being blamed on Forman. The hiring of Fred Hoiberg and the trade for point guard Cameron Payne. Forman apparently lead the charge on both decisions and neither has worked out as expected.

If this report is even mildly correct, it does not look good for Forman. However, getting him out of the mix would get great for the organization. Simply getting some fresh blood in the mix would be a strong move, even if it does mean hiring Paxson’s brother.

Regardless who becomes general manager, it is extremely unlikely that he does a worse job than Forman. The Chicago Bulls have the worst front office in the NBA and are not going to put together a successful rebuild as constructed. It is time to make moves and firing Forman would be a great first step.
