Watch Chicago Cubs slugger Kyle Schwarber crush two Triple-A home runs for the second consecutive game.

The Chicago Cubs were counting on Kyle Schwarber to be an important part of their 2017 lineup. Unfortunately, Schwarber started the season hitting .171/.295/.378. The Cubs simply could not afford to have the struggling Schwarber in their lineup any longer and decided to send him to Triple-A.

Getting sent down could not have been easy for Schwarber, but he has taken the demotion well and is working on what the Cubs want him to improve. Through seven games and 28 plate appearances, Schwarber is hitting an incredible .391/.500/.913 with the Iowa Cubs, including four home runs.

Each of his home runs has been hit in the last two days. Schwarber hit a pair of bombs for the I-Cubs on Friday and backed that up with two more on Saturday. Here is the video of Schwarber’s first home run on Saturday:

And his second bomb on Saturday night:

It is so great to see that short and compact but extremely powerful swing of Schwarber’s in action again. This guy is undoubtedly an impact major league hitter. His struggles in the big leagues this season have been baffling, but Schwarber undoubtedly has the talent and work ethic to get through it.

What to expect going forward

It is not surprising to see Schwarber go down to Triple-A and kill it. He is far too talented for the pitching at that level. That being said, Schwarber consistently getting good contact on pitches and driving the ball with authority has to help with his confidence. I am sure that he was not happy about getting sent down, but Schwarber needed some time to get his game back on track.

Next: Cubs' youth not an excuse for poor play

His swing is clearly back on track and the Chicago Cubs are likely to benefit it from it when he gets called up soon. Schwarber is not guaranteed to come back up and mash, but do not be surprised if that is exactly what happens.
