The Chicago Cubs will make a flurry of roster moves on Thursday.

Not long after learning that the Chicago Cubs will send slugger Kyle Schwarber back to Triple-A (more on that in a bit), we learned that it is just one of many roster moves about to be made by the team.

According to Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago, the Cubs will also send Jason Heyward to the disabled list and call up outfielder Mark Zagunis and relief pitcher Dylan Floro.

Heyward had been dealing with a wrist/hand injury for the better part of a week, with a DL stint seeming imminent. Floro has been up with the Cubs a number of times this season and simply just short-term bullpen depth. However, the call-up of Zagunis is very interesting.

Zagunis is known for his elite plate discipline and is hitting an impressive .249/.399/.474 with an incredible 132 wRC+ (FanGraphs) at Triple-A this season. Zagunis has an elite eye for the strike zone, coming in with a walk rate of 17.9% this season. It will be interesting to see how Zagunis handles MLB pitching but it is fair to get excited about the possibilities.

Zagunis will likely jump right in and see a lot of playing time in left field with Schwarber heading to Iowa. Also, do not be surprised to see more of Kris Bryant and Willson Contreras in the outfield as well.

Ben Zobrist is eligible to come off of the DL on Friday and would provide a much-needed boost to the lineup. Zobrist will undoubtedly see his fair share of time in the outfield with Schwarber and Heyward out.

Next: Justin Grimm becoming valuable bullpen weapon for Cubs

Schwarber is expected to be back with the Cubs soon, but in the meantime, it will be very interesting to see what Zagunis can do. The Cubs luckily have a ton of depth and versatility on their roster and are in a good shape to fight through issues like this.
