Which 2017 NBA Draft sleepers should the Chicago Bulls be targeting?

Whether they decide to move Jimmy Butler or not, Thursday’s 2017 NBA Draft is an extremely important night for the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls are stuck in mediocrity and must find a way to bring their roster into the modern game.

In today’s NBA, the most successful teams rely on floor spacing on the offensive end and length and versatility on defense. With their lack of outside shooting and athleticism, the Bulls are not able to compete like that on either side of the court.

If nothing else, the Bulls need to find a way to start bringing their roster into the modern game. It starts with their two selections (16th and 38th overall) on Thursday night.

Here are four 2017 NBA Draft sleepers the Chicago Bulls should consider.

4. V.J. Beachem, SF, Notre Dame

Age: 22
Height: 6-foot-8
Weight: 193 pounds
Wingspan: 6-foot-10
2016/17 Stats (per game): 14.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks

It is plain and simple, the Chicago Bulls need to find players who can shoot from the outside. Their offense has lacked the necessary spacing in recent years and it has absolutely killed them. Also, their lack of length and athleticism has stunted their ability to switch on the defensive end. The Bulls are seemingly stuck with a roster that does not fit modern basketball and need to find a way to fix that.

V.J. Beachem is a strong outside shooter who would probably be the Bulls’ best shooter right away. He is a bit streaky from the outside, but Beachem has a smooth stroke that seems perfectly repeatable. He also has the ability to make plays on the bounce, showing a strong ability to finish around the rim.

Beachem does lack elite athleticism but he moves his feet well on both sides of the court. Defensively, his quickness and length give him nice upside on the perimeter. Beachem is not a perfect prospect but he is a traditional three-and-d guy who would fill major holes on this Bulls’ roster.
