The expectation is that veteran guard Dwyane Wade will opt-in to return to the Chicago Bulls for the 2017-2018 season but the Chicago native has yet to make a decision.

Chicago Bulls veteran guard Dwyane Wade has until June 27th to make a decision on his $24 million dollar player option for the 2017-2018 season.

The expectation is that Wade will opt-in and return to the Bulls next season but a report from CSN Chicago indicates that the Chicago native has yet to make his decision.

"Sources tell CSNChicago.com Wade hasn’t yet made a decision on next season and hasn’t informed the Bulls of anything yet, as he’ll continue vacationing for the next couple weeks before deciding his future.Wade met with Bulls management last week in the attempt to gauge where the franchise’s direction would be for next season. The Bulls hold the 16th pick in next week’s NBA Draft, and although they’ve met with Jimmy Butler, things still appear murky as to their long-term commitment to Butler and if they want to try to make inroads in the Eastern Conference with veteran reinforcements."

The belief has been that Wade’s future with the Bulls may be tied to Jimmy Butler’s future with the teams. Butler was a large part of the reason why Wade signed with the Bulls last off-season. If the Bulls were to trade Butler, then Wade would want no part of an Eastern Conference team that has embraced a rebuild.

The issue, as it’s always been with the Bulls, is that the team’s front office can not pick a lane. The Bulls have a reputation with entering an off-season with one direction in mind before altering their direction halfway through the off-season. That was the case last off-season when the Bulls started a rebuild by trading away Derrick Rose and letting Joakim Noah leave via free agency. Though, the rebuild was short lived considering the Bulls’ acquisitions of Wade and veteran point guard Rajon Rondo.

The thought process of the Bulls’ front office can be cringing for the team’s fanbase but imagine being a player like Wade. Wade, who is getting closer to retirement with each passing season, wants one more chance at the championship. One would have to imagine the Bulls’ front office promised Wade such an effort last off-season. But with the Bulls’ front office showing no desire to improve their organization, could Wade be blamed if he left this off-season?
