1. Mitch Trubisky, QB

From the moment he got drafted, Mitch Trubisky became the most important player on the Chicago Bears roster. Whether Ryan Pace got played when he traded up one spot to land Trubisky at number two or not, the Bears’ general manager deserves credit for pinpointing his guy and making sure that he got him in the mix.

Personally, I was not huge on Trubisky throughout the draft process. If the Bears were going to take a quarterback, I thought that Deshaun Watson would have been the right guy. However, the more I go back and watch Trubisky, the more I think he can become a big-time franchise quarterback for the Chicago Bears.

There really is not much to dislike about Trubisky’s game. He has a big arm, moves well and most importantly, he is an extremely accurate passer. Trubisky shows the ability to hit his receivers in stride with consistently both inside the pocket and on the run. Make no mistake about it, Trubisky has the talent to be an elite-level NFL quarterback.

However, his game does come with plenty of questions as well, most of which involve his lack of experience. As great as Trubisky looked in 2016 at North Carolina, that was his only season as a starter in college. Plus, he took a huge majority of his snaps out of the shotgun. If Trubisky is going to be successful at the next level, it is going to take him some time to learn a pro style offense. Letting him sit as a rookie like the Bears seem ready to do is the best plan of attack.

There is no doubt about it, the quarterback position is far and away the most important position in football. If Trubisky hits his ceiling and becomes a high-level NFL quarterback, the Bears may quickly become a force to be reckoned with. If he busts, they are likely going to be a bad football team for a long time. That is why Mitch Trubisky is the most important player on the Chicago Bears roster.
