After playing in just four games over the past two seasons, Chicago Bears wide receiver Kevin White understands that the time is now for him to make an impression.

When the Chicago Bears drafted Kevin White with their first round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the team and fans alike had high hopes. White impressed at the NFL Combine, showing a great combination of speed and athletic ability. He shot up the picks in many mock drafts, and the Bears took him with the seventh overall pick.

The Bears thought they had another complement to Alshon Jeffery. Of course, they had Brandon Marshall in the previous season, but the new regime did not want to deal with him and they shipped him off. Having White would give the Bears two of the youngest, most athletic wide receivers in the NFL.

Things did not work out that way, however.

White played in just four games over his two seasons in the NFL due to injuries. Jeffery dealt with injuries and a suspension himself, then left via free agency. The great combination never got to take off.

This season, again, the hopes ride high in White. Everyone hopes that his injuries didn’t take away his speed. A fully healthy White really helps the Bears wide receiver corps.

Then the OTA’s begin, and the Bears keep him out. Normally, that doesn’t seem like a major event, but after the past two seasons, that move proved to be monumental. Now, talks of “bust” can be heard.

White hears all the whispers (now not really whispers). He knows he needs to produce this year, but he won’t pressure himself too much. He talked about it to reporters.

"It’s gotta happen now. I gotta turn it up. For me, year three, it’s time. If you say I won’t be able to score a touchdown or get 100 yards in a game, that won’t affect how I’m going to play,"

The Bears have a lot of questions with their wide receivers. There is a lot of talent there, but some of their best receivers are recovering from injuries. Markus Wheaton, Rueben Randle, Victor Cruz, and White all need to show they are healthy. If they do, the Bears may have a pretty impressive corps.

The Chicago Bears, like White, need to bounce back from some hard times. Since they drafted White, they’ve had just nine wins. That needs to change. In order for that to happen, White needs to show he is worthy of being the number one receiver on the roster.
