2017 NBA Draft: Top small forwards Chicago Bulls should target
In our continuing series looking at the top targets in the 2017 NBA Draft the Chicago Bulls should target, we take a look at the small forwards.
In the second part of our series looking at some of the top prospects in the 2017 NBA Draft the Chicago Bulls should target, we profile the small forwards.
The Bulls have a pretty good small forward on the roster. His name is Jimmy Butler. You may have heard of him. He’s one of the top rising stars in the NBA. However, the Bulls haven’t committed to building around him. Team vice president John Paxson spoke about Butler being a good player and having the team built WITH him, but that term apparently angered Butler, who feels the Bulls need to build AROUND him.
With that being said, rumors swirl around the Berto Center about trading Butler or keeping Butler. The Boston Celtics covet him, and they have the top draft pick in this year’s draft and probably the top pick in next year’s draft as well. They’ve been going at Butler the hardest and longest so perhaps the two teams agree on a deal.
Even if the Bulls don’t make a deal, the Bulls could still look for another small forward to add depth. The other small forwards on the roster are Nikola Mirotic and Paul Zipser. Both players are wildly inconsistent, however. Mirotic is a restricted free agent, but the Bulls may decide to part ways with him.
This draft is deep with good prospects. The picks at the top may not be very deep (unless you want a point guard) but teams in the middle of the draft have a lot of choices.
