The Chicago White Sox will call on former broadcaster Tom Paciorek to replace Steve Stone in the booth over the weekend.

The Chicago White Sox will finish up their three-game series with the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday and then they will move on to Seattle to play the Mariners. While in Seattle, Steve Stone, the White Sox color analyst, will be out and former White Sox player and broadcaster Tom Paciorek will be his replacement.

This is not the first time this has happened and won’t be the last so for those who missed out on the 1990’s broadcasts of White Sox games, here is what you need to know about Tom Paciorek.

Tom Paciorek or “Wimpy” played in Major League Baseball for 18 years. He broke into the big leagues in 1970 with the Los Angeles Dodgers for only eight games. He would spend time with the Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, Seattle Mariners, White Sox, New York Mets and Texas Rangers. In his career, he had .282 batting average and 86 home runs.

Paciorek spent a total of four seasons with the White Sox. As a member of the legendary 1983 “Winning U, ly” team he posted a .307 average with 9 home runs. Over his years in Chicago, his witty nickname made him popular among fans.

When it came to broadcasting he was known for having great chemistry with Ken “Hawk” Harrelson. He was in the booth with Hawk for the White Sox from 1988 through 1999. Over their time together they called many memorable moments. Between Robin Ventura taking on Nolan Ryan and the 1993 team clinching the division, over the years, these two have seen it a lot together.
